Wayland-Cohocton Central School is currently working with the Wayland Village Police Department to establish a School Resource Officer in the District. The position is currently being filled by Officer Terry. The School Resource Officer will be in Wayland-Cohocton buildings daily supporting our students and staff, developing a strong working rapport focused on safety. Currently Officer Brendan Terry is getting to know district personnel and students while working with School Security Officer John Walther.
School resource officers work with school administrators, faculty and staff to ensure a safe learning environment. School resources officers are the first lines of interaction in terms of breaking up fights and de-escalating aggression between students or between students and staff. If a student is caught breaking the law, drinking or using drugs, bringing a weapon to school or making threats, the school resource officer will provide law enforcement support.
If you have questions regarding the school resource officer position, please feel free to reach out to Superintendent Eileen Feinman at (585) 213-4303 or by email at efeinman@wccsk12.org.
