Advice to Freshmen: Don’t be afraid to try new things, get involved, and take chances. Also, try not to procrastinate!!!!!

Favorite Moment: TBH any moment with friends, but doing the musical is up there. 

Future Plans: I’m going to Rochester Institute of Technology with an engineering exploration major.

Activities: Varsity Soccer Captain, Varsity Indoor Track and Field Captain, Varsity Outdoor Track and Field Captain, Varsity Swimming and Diving Captain, Drama Club, Student Council, Math Club, Big Brother Mentor Program, Freshman Mentor Program

Advice to Incoming Freshmen: Your high school experience will be exactly what you make of it. Find a good balance of fun and work and you will enjoy your time. Maximize every opportunity and JOIN CLUBS or SPORTS.

Favorite Moment: Scoring a banger to win the Spud Jug game junior year. 

Future Plans: I plan to attend the United States Naval Academy where I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree and pursue a career as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy. 

In Appreciation: I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Miller and Mrs. Curtin. Miller has not only been a great teacher throughout the years but a great mentor and friend. I accredit much of my success to Mrs. Curtin and her guidance throughout the years. Coach Owens, it was great to share so many years of soccer. Your coaching has taught me so much about life, and being a good human, you’re a real inspiration and the community is lucky to have you and your family in the district. Dan Rizzieri, you and your family have been so helpful and the experience you’ve made for me with track has helped my mindset and attitude in all walks of life. Thank you very much.

Advice to Freshmen: Try everything! You never know unless you try.

Favorite Moment: All of the memories I made with my friends this year. 

Future Plans: Attend SUNY Geneseo in the fall to major in physics then continue to RIT to get my doctorate in astrophysics. 

In Appreciation: I want to thank my parents and my sister for being my biggest supporters in everything that I do. I wouldn’t have been able to do the things that I do without your love and support!

Makayla Champaign

Makayla Champaign

Parents are Aaron and Rebecca Champaign.

Special Achievements: I was selected to, and did attend Girls State last summer. I also have earned a provisional seat in medical school. 

Activities: Softball, Tennis, Soccer, Drama Club, Chorus, Yearbook Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Junior EMS and the Springwater Church of the Nazarene Youth Group. 

Advice to Freshmen: Explore all of the different activities and events that high school has to offer. Get involved with Drama Club, go for that sport you’ve always wanted to try, but do something. Even if you don’t do as well as you hoped, you tried, and that’s all that matters. This time that you have here before you enter the real world is short, so use it to have fun and do the things that make you happy. 

Favorite Moment: The entire experience of joining Drama Club. I never thought that doing a musical would have been so much fun. The time I spent with that amazing group of people will be memories that I hold onto forever. My only regret is not joining sooner. 

Future Plans: I will be attending St. Bonaventure University in the fall and I will be majoring in biology. Afterward, I will be attending medical school. 

In Appreciation: Thank you to my parents for always supporting me and pushing me to try my best. Also, Thank you to my friends for always having my back and filling my time here with fun memories. 

Michael Gammell

Special Accomplishments: Competing in five sports during my senior year, participating in Drama Club, and getting a full ROTC Scholarship to Syracuse University. 

Activities: Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, Indoor Track, Baseball, Outdoor Track, Drama Club, part-time restaurant job, Camp Invention Counselor

Advice to Freshmen: Explore every opportunity you possibly can and pursue whatever it is that truly makes you happy… the entire world is at your disposal. 

Favorite Moment: Scoring the first goal of my freshman soccer season

Future Plans: Attending Syracuse University on a full ROTC Scholarship and double majoring in sports management and economics with minors in socioeconomics and sports psychology; upon graduating from college, serving four years of activity duty as a second lieutenant in the US Army; after that, I’m not sure, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

In Appreciation: Coaches Brent Owens, Steve Wager, Jake Kenney, Matt Bondgren, Bob Toland, Elizabeth Kreppel, Darren Knapp, Julie Martin, and Dan Rizzieri; Teachers Rob Hughes, Richard Miller, and Dan Folts; and Titan Rocha, thank you all for pushing me to discover as much of my potential as possible. For that, I am truly grateful.

Special Accomplishments: I have been chosen as a Cornell Tradition Fellow which is very selective and only accepts four percent of undergraduates. 

Activities: Varsity Tennis, Student Council President, Math Club Co-President, Steuben County Youth Board, Started Literary Magazine, National Honor Society

Advice to Incoming Freshmen: Get involved in extracurricular activities and don’t solely focus on grades.

Favorite Moment: The Close-Up trip and meeting new people. 

Future Plans: I plan on going to Cornell for cognitive science with a pre-med track and ultimately becoming a neurosurgeon.

In Appreciation: I would like to thank my mother for all her help, guidance, and encouragement throughout the years.

Special Accomplishments: Being a three-sport athlete, have made submissions to STARRED magazine

Activities: Drama Club for two years including Help Desk, Robin Hood, and MASH; Cross Country, Indoor Track, Skiing, and Outdoor Track

Advice to Freshmen: Join a club or a sport, you can make friends and be part of something bigger. 

Favorite Moment: Going to Dash in the Dark with the Cross Country team

Future Plans: Going to Summit University to get a degree in business administration

Kendall Allen

Kendall Allen

Parents are Christine Allen and Ken Allen.

Special Accomplishments: I broke the Girls Varsity Swimming 500 freestyle record. I am now the fourth fastest 500 swimmer ever to go through Wayland-Cohocton.

Activities: Involved in Varsity Swimming for five years, 8th grade to twelfth grade.

Advice to Freshmen: Just have fun in high school; don’t leave regretting what you did or didn’t do. It’s only four years and it goes too fast. 

Favorite Moment: It was spirit week and our class had to wear white for one of the days. But, a group of us decided to go outside in the rain and play kickball in the bud while wearing white clothes. Everyone was slipping and sliding in the mud and by the time we were done, you couldn’t tell that we were ever wearing white.

Future Plans: I am going to St. John Fisher University to major in nursing. After I get my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, I will continue school to become a nurse practitioner Once my school is done, I will work at a trauma hospital to specialize in pediatric emergencies.

In Appreciation: I would like to thank my parents for pushing me to do the best I could in school, and Mr. Hughes for making me a successful swimmer and not giving up on me! 

Kadyn Brown

Parents are Bryan and Tracey Brown.

Special Accomplishments: Made it to sectional finals in Soccer and was a captain for Varsity Basketball.

Activities: I played Basketball and Soccer for four years. I played Golf for five years, since eighth grade. I was also in Band and Marching Band while playing the flute. 

Advice to Freshmen: Don’t take everything for granted and do everything you do with your full capabilities. 

Favorite Moment: The Sectional run we had in soccer my junior year and the team we had this year. 

Future Plans: I plan on going to Clarkson University for a degree in Aerospace Engineering so that maybe one day I can work at NASA or even SpaceX.

Samantha Brown

Special Accomplishments: LCAA All-Star for swimming for three years, LCAA All-Star for Track for two years

Advice to Freshmen: Enjoy the moment while you’re in it because it goes by quickly.

Favorite Moment: Going to sporting events and cheering on my friends.

Future Plans: Going to William and Mary for business then onto law school.

Special Accomplishments: I have had two Athlete of the Month recognitions, in my junior and senior years; LCAA All-Star for Cheerleading, Exceptional Senior for Cheerleading

Advice to Freshmen: Enjoy every moment and don’t be afraid to get involved with everything or you’ll regret it. 

Favorite Moment: The senior dance and overall pep rallies over the years. 

Future Plans: Going to college at Genesee Community College for criminal justice to become a private investigator

Charidi Davis

Parent is Katherine Loper.

Special Accomplishments: I received Athlete of the Month in December. I mean getting Magna Cum Laude is an accomplishment I would say. 

Activities: I was in a couple of sports like Cross Country, Indoor Track and Field, and Outdoor Track and Field. 

Advice to Freshmen: Don’t get all worked up about high school, have fun and enjoy it because it will fly by and you will be graduating before you know it. 

Favorite Moment: All the spirit weeks we had and being able to go all out for each day. Also, the pep rally at the end because it brings your class closer together. 

Future Plans: I am going to FLCC for two years and then will decide to transfer to a different college after to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Business, so I can become a wedding/event planner. 

In Appreciation: I would like to thank all the ladies in the SCO: Mrs. Billotte, Mrs. Cansdale, Ms. Broderick, Mrs. Elliott, and Mrs. Pickard, for helping me throughout high school but especially this year for letting me hang out there. Also, my mom for supporting me in everything that I do and being at every event I have. 

Jett Meldrum

Parents are Elise and Pierre Meldrum.

Accomplishments: Besides playing my favorite sports swimming and golf, I would say the people I befriended throughout high school were my favorite memories along with the good laughs I’ve had while here. 

Activities: Soccer, Swimming, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, National Honor Society, helping with the yearbook, and working at the golf course.

Advice to Freshmen: It goes by in the blink of an eye. Don’t waste time being mean or hating people or starting or feeding drama. Be positive, laugh, smile and create good memories. 

Favorite Moment: This year seeing Mr. Knapp stand in as “Mr. Flower”  for golf photos.” 

Future Plans: I plan on going to SUNY Brockport to get my Masters in Physical Education but out of college I hope to pursue my dream of professionally golfing. 

In Appreciation: I’d like to thank my family of course, but also Mr. Oliver, Mr. Lynah and Mr. Knapp. 


Ariana Obrochta

Parents are Jill and Doug Obrochta.

Accomplishments: Class President, National Honor Society President, Raising $1400, danced for fourteen years; throughout high school, I took advantage of opportunities to get a head start on college receiving over 40 credits in courses; achieved over 100 hours of individual service. 

Activities: National Honor Society, Student Council, Class Officer, School Spirit Coordinator, Freshman Mentor, Student Service Officer, Dance, Close-Up (2021-2022), employment at Scoops and Blooms (2021-present), 

Advice to Incoming Freshmen: Take as many opportunities as you can, it will be over before you know it. 

Favorite Moment: Getting pied in the face. 

Future Plans: I will be attending Wells College in the fall. I plan on majoring in biology while being involved in their pre-vet program. I will also be doing a cross-registration program with Cornell University and plan to study abroad my second year. My overall goal is to be a veterinarian. 

In Appreciation: I would like to thank my parents, Jennifer Billotte, the SCO, Mr. Oliver and Mr. Hurley for pushing me to be my best and allowing me to achieve all that I could. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you guys and I couldn’t be more thankful! 

Mackenzie Pickard

Mackenzie Pickard

Parents are Stephanie and Sheldon Pickard.

Activities: I played Soccer and Basketball all throughout school, along with working at the ice cream stand across from school all throughout high school. 

Advice to Freshmen: High school can be tricky at times but it’s important to remember to manage your time wisely and get involved in as much as possible. Trust me, you’ll regret not doing anything when senior year is coming to an end. Make new friends, go to sporting events, join clubs, and do what makes you happy. 

Favorite Moment: It’s so hard to pick just one favorite moment throughout all my years spent in high school, although I would say one of the funniest moments was in Ms. Kreppell’s Earth Science class. I had to get on the table for the lab we were doing and I went to hop up, my foot hit a chair and it went flying across the room. I could not stop laughing. 

Future Plans: I will be attending SUNY Brockport in the fall to study PE and athletic training, so hopefully I can become a high school P.E. Teacher and do athletic training for the school district as well.

In Appreciation: I would like to thank my parents and Mrs. Billotte in the SCO for pushing me to be the best version of myself there is and always being there to support me in anything I have done or wanted to do.

Advice to Freshmen: Don’t procrastinate and enjoy high school; you are going to spend four years here. 

Favorite Moment: When Mr. Knapp started the Greg chant when I walked into the library my junior year. 

Future Plans: Enlisting in the Marines

Advice to Freshmen: Join a sport if you can or another extracurricular because it keeps you busy and stopping is more boring than just walking. 

Future Plans: Attend a 2+2 program at SUNY Broome and SUNY Binghamton then med school to become a surgeon. 

In Appreciation: Special thanks to Mr. Miller for all that he does to help in awards and many other parts of school life because it made school more enjoyable; and to Mr. Ronan for giving me a passion for music as a stress reliever and hobby.

Advice to Freshmen: Pick electives that you want to do, not what you think you should do. The only opinion that matters is your own. 

Favorite Moment: Fall Ball of 2022, it let me hang out with my underclassmen friends

Future Plans: After graduation, I plan to go to Mansfield University for Nursing. Nursing is such a great field to go into. When I get my RN, I plan to be a labor and delivery nurse (outside of the OR).

In Appreciation: Mrs. Willis, she was my seventh-grade history teacher and homeroom teacher. And more recently, she helped me for three months during my junior year.

Accomplishments: National Honors Society, Second in NY State for ladies and tied 25th overall NY State in 2022 Trap Shooting; made the 2022 High School All-State Team for Trap Shooting; 2022 Empire Western Zone Junior Handicap Trap Shooting Champion

Activities: Trap Shooting, Girls Scouts K-12, high school counselor for Camp Invention, I was deck manager for Drama Club productions of Clue and We Will Rock You

Advice to Freshmen: Just be yourself and have fun. 

Favorite Moment: I don’t really have a favorite moment, being part of the We Will Rock You production. 

Future Plans: I am going to Alfred State College of Technology for my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. 

In Appreciation: I would like to thank Mac (Mr. McLaughlin), you have been an amazing teacher and I will miss you.

Future Plans: I plan to go to college for adolescent education at Keuka College.

Parent is Karina Cartella/Graybill.

Accomplishment: I achieved Cum Laude, didn’t fail biology. I took a lot of college courses (less debt) and I tried a couple of sports.

Advice to Freshmen: Don’t be an idiot. Have fun, but don’t be lazy with your schoolwork, especially if you plan to go to college.

Future Plans: I’m going to attend college for economics as an undergraduate.


Brooke Lander

Brooke Lander

Parents are Dan and Jen Lander.

Accomplishments: I graduated with my Associate's in Liberal Arts, Math and Science from Corning Community College. I’ve played three sports my entire high school career, playing varsity for 3-4 years for each sport. 

Activities: I play softball all year for a team out of Rochester and for the school. I have been a National Honor Society member for two years and a National Junior Honor Society Member in previous years. I spend a lot of time at Lent Hill Dairy Farm tending to my calves and love to help my dad with summer soccer, reffing, and coaching. 

Advice to Freshmen: Try anything and everything you can, otherwise you’ll regret it!!

Favorite Moment: My favorite moment was definitely getting a foreign exchange student. I love her to death and it's so much fun having a sister! 

Future Plans: I plan to go to SUNY Cobleskill to study animal science and beef and livestock studies to do a career in agriculture. 

In Appreciation: Thank you to everyone at Wayland-Cohocton who made my experience here so incredible and rewarding.

Jayden Richardson

Jayden Richardson

Parents are Jessica and Wesley Richardson.

Accomplishments: I got to design this year’s yearbook which was a great opportunity. 

Activities: I played volleyball for the school junior and senior years, and worked for the school at the end of my junior year. 

Advice to Freshmen: These are supposed to be the happiest years of your life so enjoy it while you can. It goes by way faster than you think. 

Favorite Moment:  All the times my friends and I sit together and talk about stuff. 

Future Plans: I plan to go to college for illustration, which may or may not change, to eventually be able to do art for whatever job I pursue. 

In Appreciation: I’d like to thank all of the teachers I’ve had and friends for always believing in me and always giving their support. I’d like to thank my family members for believing in me, and especially my parents who have supported and encouraged me to get to this point even if it seems impossible.
