2024 Awards Ceremony

Class of 2024 Awards and Scholarships

These awards and scholarships were presented to members of the Class of 2024 on Wednesday, June 5th, in the Performing Arts Center. A total of 126 awards were given out to 56 students. A total of $65,286 was gifted to Wayland-Cohocton seniors through the generosity of individuals, community organizations, and businesses.

We thank everyone who makes these awards and scholarships possible to Wayland-Cohocton students.

Amelia Kimmel

Henry and Anna-Marie Sepanski Memorial Environmental Scholarship

Given to a student accepted into at least a two-year program at a college or university in the field of environmental studies, and who has shown responsibility and respect for school, self, and the environment throughout high school.

Given to a students who are continuing their education and who are overachiever in their other studies. These individuals also demonstrates willingness to help others in need.

The recipient of this award is a senior baseball player who displays the characteristics of leadership, sportsmanship, dedication, effort, self-confidence, and selflessness. These characteristics are essential for success beyond the diamond.

A.N.C. Incorportated Scholarship

The A.N.C. Incorporated was a community of betterment organiation incorporated from 1963 to 2023 in the Atlanta-North Cohocton area. This award will recognize Atlanta-North Cohocton graduating seniors in the hope they will make a commitment to their community wherever they go.

This award is given in memory of Allie Vose who was an enthusiastic art student who dedicated countless hours helping the Art Department to prepare for art shows. The student selected to receive this award has also selflessly donated many hours of service to the Art Program

Given to graduating seniors who are furthering their education and who have a positive outlook and determination to succeed like Bret.

Gabrielle Sick

Army Sergeant Devin A. Snyder Soccer Scholarship Award

To a senior female Athlete in good standing who participated in the soccer program throughout their high school years. Must have been accepted into at least a two-year program at a college or university or be enlisted into a branch of the U.S. Military.

The Patricia Wraight Memorial Scholarship

Given to a senior female soccer player who has been a hard-working, dedicated team member. She does not have to be the MVP or star, but someone who has been a pleasure to work with and has gained the respect of her peers and faculty.

This award is for the outstanding mentors that showed dedication to both the Freshman Mentoring Program itself and, especially to their freshmen. These students have shown tremendous growth over the course of their high school careers. Even under difficult circumstances, these students show resilience and strength. These students have continued to focus on their future and create their own success, no matter the barriers. Their growth over time is a great example of someone who can overcome and maintain a positive attitude. These students have worked hard to achieve academic and personal success, and I know will continue to grow.

Principal’s Character Award

This award goes to a person who exemplifies strong character and moral integrity. This person lives a lifestyle of service, kindness toward others and strong leadership. This student is incredibly positive, hardworking and reliable. They make a daily decision to lead by example, often doing the hard work that can go unnoticed. This student continues to impress me with their bright optimism, their appreciation for others and their ability to lead.
