Wayland-Cohocton Cleaner Robin Oxx was awarded the Golden Eagle Award for faculty and staff on Monday, May 6th. “Miss Robin,” as the students affectionately refer to her, is dedicated well-beyond the requirements of her job. She enthusiastically greets students in the morning, participates actively in the organization of special events for students, and steps in wherever she can to help everyone in the Elementary building. Miss Robin also invites students to work with her who express an interest and this has developed an appreciation for the care of the Wayland-Cohocton facilities in its students. Miss Robin also is willing to jump into the role of the Eagle mascot and celebrate with the students in her building. Thank you Miss Robin for keeping our building clean and our hearts warm.

First graders are learning to create self portraits in art. Mrs. Stieve started off by discussing facial characteristics, face shape and positions of the facial features. Students used mirrors to create a rough draft before moving to the “good paper” to finalize their creations. Wayland-Cohocton is celebrating National Youth Art Month and will post pictures of students and their creative endeavors throughout March.

Elementary Art students with Mrs. Stieve wrapped up a clay heart project. After finishing the project, the students take time to reflect on their work through a guided worksheet. This helps young learners process what skills they are mastering while having fun creating beautiful art. It is an important part of the learning process.
