Voters in the Wayland-Cohocton Central School District will have an opportunity to vote on two propositions and candidates running for the Board of Education on Tuesday, May 17th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Middle School gymnasium. The community is welcome to enter the building through the Performing Arts Center doors at the front of the building on the Wayland campus.
A person is entitled to vote in the school election who is:
A citizen of the United States
Eighteen (18) years of age or older
A resident of the district for a period of thirty (30) days preceding the vote.
Proposition One is the budget and includes the purchase of necessary rolling stock through The Vehicle and Equipment Reserve Fund. Proposition 2 is the Public Library levy increase authorization. The district is the collecting agency for the levy and includes the proposition in its annual voting, but the funds collected are determined and utilized by the local libraries.
Thirdly, voters will choose from three candidates for three open board of education seats; two five-year terms and one three-year term created by a resignation and temporarily filled by an appointment.
