Dear Wayland-Cohocton Families:
This memo is a follow up to the information provided earlier in the week regarding “testing to stay”. We are moving forward with the process and will start Thursday morning (11/18). Please read the entire document carefully so that you will know what to expect, where to go and at what time. For any student(s)/staff in the MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL, testing will take place in the Performing Arts Center (please enter through the auditorium doors leading directly from outside into the auditorium at the front of the building). Testing will begin at 7:00am and end at 7:30am. Someone will be there to assist the students through the process. For ELEMENTARY SCHOOL student(s)/staff, testing will take place in the Large Group Instruction room (LGI) (please park in the LGI parking lot and enter through the door going into the LGI). Testing will begin at 8:15am and end at 8:45am. There will be individuals there to assist. Please remember, that parents must wait for students who are being tested to be cleared to attend that day.
Before students can be tested they must be pre-registered using the following link QuikLAB. If you experience any difficulty in completing the form please contact Quinlan's Pharmacy (585-728-2250 ext 1015) and someone will assist you. We will be using the CareStart COVID-19 Antigen test.
Please remember the parameters that have been set by the Health Department.
The daily test must be conducted in the district and the results confirmed before the school day begins.
If negative, the student/staff proceeds to class.
If positive, the student/staff is sent home and existing procedures are followed.
Students will not be permitted to ride the school bus in the morning prior to receiving their test. Parents are required to transport children to the district for the testing. However, with a negative test result, students can ride the school bus home at the end of the day.
Adults accompanying students to school for testing must wait 10-15 minutes for the test results before they can leave.
Students and staff who are allowed to remain in school through TTS must still be quarantined outside of school instruction/academic periods— NO community activities or extracurricular participation including clubs, sports, arts/performance activities are permitted while the student remains in quarantine. The student/staff member may only go from home to school for instruction and back home again.
If the exposed person who is allowed to remain in school through TTS develops symptoms, they must be excluded from school attendance per current school guidance.
Home tests will not be accepted.
A school test is not required on weekends and holidays when the seven-day TTS period is still active.
Obviously this is a new process so please be patient as we work to provide this opportunity. Thank you for your cooperation.
