Camp Invention is coming to WCCS

Invent Now Kids is pleased to bring the Camp Invention CREATE program – featuring all new activities – to Wayland-Cohocton Central School. The weeklong program for children entering grades one through six will be held at Wayland Elementary and Middle School August 9th – August 13th. This exciting summer day experience immerses children in imaginative play that inspired creativity and inventive thinking through hands on activities in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM). Its learning disguised as fun!

Each day of the program week, children rotate through five integrated modules that require creative thinking to solve real-world challenges. Working together, children learn vital 21st century life skills such as problem solving and teamwork that inspire creativity and inventive thinking through hands-on activities.

This year, Wayland-Cohocton Central School Director of Curriculum Becky Wager will direct the Camp Invention CREATE program, where children not only have to figure out a way to survive on a strange planet during the Problem Solving on Planet ZAK® module, but also rebuild a cleaner, more eco-friendly city in the Saving Sludge City™ module and create amusement park rides during the Imagination Point: Ride Physics™ module. Every Camp Invention program features the I Can Invent III™ module, where younger children take apart discarded household appliances and create fantasy inventions, while older children use the pieces and parts to build Rube Goldberg machines. Also featured is the Global Games™ module, where children explore ancient cultures and sports like lacrosse and soccer from civilizations around the world.

Local educators will facilitate the program modules, and enthusiastic high school and college students will serve as program counselors. This renowned program features a low staff-to-child ratio, with one staff member for every eight children.

Every child who participates will receive a Camp Invention T-shirt. There will only be a registration fee of $25, which will be refunded if your child attends all 5 days. A limited number of registrations are available so keep an eye out for the registration forms that will be coming home soon. To learn more visit www.campinvention.org or call Becky Wager at 728-2211 with any questions.
